The hallmark for an aging face is the loss of volume which occurs over time. Dermal fillers are therefore used to restore volume and plump some of these areas to create a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are gels made up of synthetic Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA are a naturally occurring protein that attracts water thus helping it occupy large volume relative to its mass. Some of the most common brands on the market include Juvéderm®,Restylane ®, Radiesse®, Belotero ® and Teosyal®.

Common Uses of Dermal Filler

Some of the most common sites where dermal fillers are used include nasolabial folds (skin fold between nose and cheek), marionette lines (lines around mouth), lips, jaw line, cheek bones, chin, deep facial lines, tear troughs (under eye) and for non-surgical nose correction.
